Club Announces New Officers,
John Darlington New President

by Greg Littleton

Every two years the National Indy 500 Collectors Club changes the view from the top. Larry Ireland gives way to the new President John Darlington while two members move into the officers chairs for the first time.

Larry Ireland, who lives near Baltimore, Maryland, ended his two-year stint as President. We wish to thank Larry for his efforts and know that he will continue to be active with the Club. Former Vice-President John Darlington moved into the captain's chair January 1, 2001. John, who lives on Indy's north side and has a museum-like collection, is interested in all aspects of our hobby. He is especially fond of Jimmy Clark and the Lotus-Fords. However, with a family connection to the race dating back to 1912, John's interests are varied. A Charter Member of the club, John is a high-energy, talkative individual who has a vast knowledge of racing memorabilia and will bring solid leadership to our group.

The new Vice-President is Dave Goss, an Accountant from just west of Indianapolis in Avon, Indiana. Dave, who has a few ties to the IRL's Panther Racing Team, has been a member since 1993. Dave is happy to report that he recently completed his Indy Program collection.

The guy who took on the job that requires constant attention is our new Secretary-Treasurer Treg Bauchert. Treg, lives in the pretty little town of Speedway, Indiana. Treg likes Pace Cars and has a collection of tickets and badges as well.

I am not interested in moving up as an officer, so stepping aside for “new blood” is the best thing I could do. I enjoy being the Editor of The Short Chute and will continue in that capacity. The 500 has given me such joy in my life, it is the one thing I do that makes me feel as though I am giving something in return. I hope everyone enjoys the newsletter.

Clubs similar to ours cannot function without efforts of people like John and Larry and all the others who have made the effort in the past. All Past Presidents are lifetime honorary members of the Club and receive a newsletter without paying dues. Not much for their efforts, but it's the least we can do.
