NEWSLETTER # 2 MAR. - APR. 1985Club Notes_________________________________________________________________________
Hope this newsletter finds everyone in good health and prospering.
I am pleased to announce our club membership now stands at 43. A breakdown by state is as follows: Arizona (1), California (3), Colorado (1), Florida (1), Illinois (8), Indiana (13), Michigan (1), Montana (1), New Hampshire (1), New Jersey (2), New York (3), Ohio (2), Pennsylvania (2), Texas (2), and Wisconsin (2). Some members have expressed a concern that they may end up with a lot of dealers in the club. I am happy to report so far this has not been the case. Every member that has signed up is most sincere about Indy 500 memorabilia collecting and not just in it to turn a profit. For this I am grateful.
Since the last edition of the SHORT CHUTE I have placed an ad about the club in the National Speed Sport News and got us mentioned in the Hoosier Auto Racing Fans club (H.A.R.F.) newsletter. Our increase in the number of new members resulted from these two publications.
Speaking of the last edition of the SHORT CHUTE, I sent copies to Chris Economacki (National Speed Sport News), Robin Miller (sports writer for the Indianapolis Star), and Donald Davidson (noted Indy 500 ilistorian). Mr. Economacki briefly mentioned the club in the March 16th edition of NSSN.
Fellow club members Dave Allee and Steve Snoddy of A & S Racing Collectibles, Inc. wanted you to have the enclosed sample driver cards Which they produce. I think you will find they are well done. A price list is attached if you should be interested in ordering a set or sets. These cards will no doubt become collector items in the years ahead . Our thanks to Dave and Steve for giving us a chance to look at their cards.
I have submitted an application for a booth at the annual Indy 500 memorabilia show. This year the show will be held Saturday, May 25th at the Howard Johnson Downtown Inn from 9:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Haven't been guaranteed a booth yet, but hope to get one on behalf of the club. If we are able to get one, and you are planning on attending, please stop by and say hello. For those of you unable to attend I will let you know how things go in the next newsletter.
A couple of members have suggested we have a club logo. If any of you should be blessed with artistic abilities, I would welcome any ideas or sketches you may have. Hopefully, we can have some kind of decal, patch, pin, etc. made for club members.
