NATIONAL INDY 500 COLLECTORS CLUB

CHARTER
(Adopted January 1, 1987)

I. NAME

This organization shall be known as the National Indy 500 Collectors Club, hereinafter referred to as the "NI500CC."

II. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

The NI500CC was founded January 1, 1985, for the purpose of organizing those individuals who collect or are interested in collecting Indianapolis 500 racing memorabilia. Its intention is to help and guide members to preserve the history of the most famous automobile race in the world - The Indianapolis 500.

III. MEMBERSHIP

Membership shall be open to all individuals who collect or are interested in collecting Indianapolis 500 racing memorabilia.

IV. OFFICERS, DUTIES AND TERMS OF OFFICE

Officers shall include a President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and Managing Editor. All officer positions are voluntary and shall be for a term of two years without consideration for payment. If for any reason an officer cannot complete the two year term, the President shall appoint an active club member to fill the unexpired portion of the term. The duties of the officers shall be:

1. PRESIDENT - Preside at any and all meetings; fill any officer vacancies; coordinate any disputes and do all things necessary to keep the NI500CC in operation.

2. VICE PRESIDENT - Substitute as needed when the President is unable to perform his/her duties; assist the President on any NI500CC business when requested.

3. SECRETARY/TREASURER - Keep correct records of all NI500CC meetings; maintain accurate records of all monies received and monies paid, prepare a year-end report of all monies received, monies spent and cash balance.

4. MANAGING EDITOR - Coordinate the publication of the NI500CC newsletter, the SHORT CHUTE, including writing the articles and mailing to the membership on a *bi-monthly basis; prepare and mail the annual membership directory; write, prepare and mail press releases.
*As of Jan. 1989, The Short Chute became a quarterly newsletter.

V. COMMITTEES

The President may establish standing or special committees as may be deemed appropraite to further the interests of club members. The President shall appoint one of the members as an ex-officio project leader of any committee established.

VI. DUES

Annual dues shall be collected from members to off set expenses. The amount of dues shall be set by the officers and may be amended only on January 1 of each year at which time all memberships automatically expire. Those members joining after July 1 of each year shall receive membership for the remaining portion of that year, plus the following year. If, for any reason, the NI500CC should be dissolved, all remaining monies collected from dues shall be distributed evenly to all active members.

VII. AMENDMENTS

This Charter may be amended by a majority vote of the membership. Proposed amendments will be screened by the President, Vice President, Secretary Treasurer and Managing Editor. All must agree the proposed amendment is worthy to be presented before the membership for a formal vote.
