- Indianapolis Motor Speedway Medical Armbands -

The known IMS medical armbands from 1909 through the 1980's are made of felt or in the case of the
1921, a silk/satin type material. Because these two materials were used they tend to suffer
damage, mainly from moths with felt armbands and general frailty with silk/satin armbands.
We have no pictures of IMS Medical armbands for the following years: 1909-1920, 22-30, 33-41, 48,52,
59, 60, 63-66, 80, 83 and 85 up. We could also use more pictures of other armbands from those

Note that one 1970 is designated "Ambulance", the other as "Hospital".
Armbands with different designations probably exisit and are probably diffenent colors.

Because of the fragile nature of felt and silk/satin armbands, many did not survive making most of them very rare, very tough to find and very desirable. Those after WWII do become easier to find but, medical armbands were not as widely used as regular IMS armbands so in general they are tougher to find.
